Pune, 7th November 2026: Pune Metro will run from 6 am to 8 pm on Sunday, November 8, the day of Lakshmi Pujan. That is two hours longer than the 6 am to 6 pm schedule it first announced. Trains will not run between 8 pm and 11 pm that night.
Normal service, from 6 am to 11 pm, returns on Monday, November 9, according to the revised Pune Metro schedule reported by Punekar News.
Pune Metro timings on November 8 at a glance
- 6 am to 8 pm: trains run as usual
- 8 pm to 11 pm: no metro service
- From Monday, November 9: regular timings of 6 am to 11 pm
Why the schedule changed twice in two days
On Friday, November 6, Pune Metro first said services would stop at 6 pm on Lakshmi Pujan and stay shut till 11 pm, as reported by The Free Press Journal.
Later the same day, the metro administration pushed the closing time to 8 pm, saying commuters had asked for it.
In Pune, the Lakshmi Puja muhurat on Sunday falls between 6:24 pm and 8:24 pm, according to Drik Panchang. With the new timing, trains keep running through most of that window.
What it means if you are travelling on Sunday evening
If you plan to visit Laxmi Road, Tulshibaug or Mandai for last-minute shopping, the metro is now an option till 8 pm. Mandai and Kasba Peth stations on the Purple Line are the closest to the old city markets.
Plan the return trip with care. The last trains from terminal stations such as PCMC, Swargate, Vanaz and Ramwadi may leave a little before the 8 pm cut-off, so a trip that starts at 7:45 pm may not finish on the metro. Keep an auto, cab or PMPML bus as a backup.
Does the Pink Line (Hinjewadi Metro Line 3) follow the same timings?
The announcement covers Pune Metro, run by Maha Metro, which operates the Purple Line (PCMC to Swargate) and the Aqua Line (Vanaz to Ramwadi). The new Pink Line from Maan in Hinjewadi to District Court, which opened on November 4, is run by a private operator under PMRDA.
A separate Lakshmi Pujan timing for the Pink Line had not been announced when this story was published. Check the operator’s app or station notices before you travel. Our Pune Metro Line 3 stations, fares and timings guide has the regular schedule.
How this compares with earlier Diwalis
Pune Metro has cut evening service on Lakshmi Pujan before. In 2025, on Tuesday, October 21, it ran only from 6 am to 6 pm. This year it has partly rolled back the early closure after commuter requests.

We will update this story if Pune Metro or the Pink Line operator changes the schedule again.
