Obsession on JioHotstar: Curry Barker’s Uncut Horror Film Now Streaming in English and Hindi, With Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon Voicing the Leads

Pune, 2nd November 2026: Halloween weekend brought one of the year’s most talked-about horror films to Indian homes. Obsession, written and directed by Curry Barker, began streaming on JioHotstar on Friday, 30 October, at 7 pm, and reactions to its scariest scenes were trending on X through the weekend.

The streaming version is the original, uncut edition, and viewers can choose between English and a Hindi dub.

What Obsession is about

Bear, played by Michael Johnston, is desperate for the affection of Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette. He makes a wish on a mysterious object called the One Wish Willow. At first, it seems to work. Then Nikki’s affection turns intense, possessive and frightening, and the wish becomes a nightmare. Cooper Tomlinson and Megan Lawless also appear.

The film uses a supernatural set-up to look at something very real: the darker side of attraction, and what happens when someone wants to be loved on their own terms. It is closer to a psychological horror than a jump-scare film, though it has its share of shocks.

The Hindi version

For the Hindi dub, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon have lent their voices to the lead characters, a rare instance of Bollywood stars dubbing a Hollywood horror film. It is a smart move by the platform to bring the film to viewers who prefer Hindi.

Why “uncut” matters

Films released in Indian cinemas go through certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which can ask for cuts. Streaming platforms are not under the CBFC, though they follow the government’s self-regulation code for online content and age ratings. So when a platform advertises an “uncut” version, it usually means scenes trimmed or altered for the theatrical release are back. For a horror film, that typically means more graphic moments.

Should you watch it?

• Watch it if you like psychological horror, slow-building dread and stories with a moral twist, in the vein of films where a wish goes wrong.
• Skip it, or watch with care, if you are sensitive to disturbing themes around obsession and consent, or if you are watching with children. Check the age rating on the platform before pressing play.

The film also had a theatrical run in India and was available for digital rental before arriving on JioHotstar’s subscription service.
