Pune, 2nd November 2026: Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is closing in on Rs 800 crore at the worldwide box office, less than three weeks after its release on 15 October. Trade tracker Sacnilk’s latest estimate puts the film at about Rs 790 crore gross worldwide, and fan posts celebrating an Rs 800 crore milestone were trending on X this weekend. Either way, it is already the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, ahead of Rajinikanth’s own 2.0.

- Day 1: Rs 70.25 crore gross in India, Rs 127.25 crore worldwide
- First 4 days: Rs 418.25 crore worldwide
- Day 11: Rs 466.85 crore gross in India, Rs 719.85 crore worldwide
- Milestone: crossed Rs 700 crore worldwide within 11 days
The Dussehra holiday period in its first week gave the film a strong start, and it has held well since.
Where the money came from

Kerala stands out. The film’s collection there has passed Vijay’s Leo as the biggest for a Tamil film in the state. Overseas, the film earned about Rs 253 crore (around 26.65 million US dollars) in 11 days, about 35% of its worldwide total, with the Middle East and North America as its biggest markets. It became the first Tamil film to cross 24, 25 and 26 million dollars overseas.
Why the Hindi market lagged
The “rest of India” figure, which includes Maharashtra and the Hindi belt, is the weakest part of the run. Reports say the film’s Hindi version had a limited multiplex release because of a dispute over the four-week window between theatrical release and streaming. Several national multiplex chains insist on a longer window for Hindi releases.
Compared with Coolie
Rajinikanth’s previous film, Coolie (August 2025), opened bigger, with Rs 151.10 crore worldwide on day 1, but finished at around Rs 518 crore worldwide. Jailer 2 passed that within two weeks, a sign of strong word of mouth.
Can it reach Rs 1,000 crore? Sacnilk has said that mark looks out of reach. With new releases arriving every Friday and the film’s run slowing, crossing Rs 800 crore is the realistic next milestone.
