Nashik, 1st November 2026: Nashik has set its second Guinness World Record in seven days. On Saturday, 6,233 devotees performed a collective Godavari aarti at Ramteerth on the Godavari riverfront, as part of the Dhwajarohan programme marking the start of preparations for the Simhastha Maha Kumbh 2027.

President Droupadi Murmu attended the event and performed the Godavari pujan.

Nashik’s two Guinness records in seven days

On 25 October, 517 conch blowers set a record with a simultaneous conch-blowing ceremony at the same Ramteerth ghat. Saturday’s collective aarti added a second record.

The event was organised by the Ramteerth Goda Aarti Committee under the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority, with guidance from Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan. About 6,500 tribal participants from 650 villages across seven talukas of Nashik district took part in the programme; the Guinness count was 6,233.

Concern over drought

During her visit, President Murmu said drought had hurt people in Maharashtra, especially farmers, and expressed confidence that the Centre and the state would support them.

Governor Jishnu Dev Varma offered prayers for drought relief, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the tribal communities for keeping the tradition alive. Murmu also urged the Kumbh organisers to set an example in cleanliness and waste management. Low dam storage is a concern across the region this year, including in Pune, where PMC has a weekly water cut. See our page on the Pune water cut.
