What it means for Maharashtra farmers

In Maharashtra, gram (harbhara) is the main rabi pulse, grown widely in Marathwada and Vidarbha, while wheat and jowar are common in Pune, Ahilyanagar and Solapur districts. Safflower, once a major rabi oilseed in Marathwada, gets the largest increase this year, which may help farmers looking for a low-water crop in a drought year.

The small ₹25 rise for wheat and ₹83 for gram will disappoint many growers, especially after a kharif season hit by drought across 305 talukas. Read about the scale of crop losses this year.

Does everyone get MSP?

No. MSP is guaranteed only when you sell to a government procurement agency, such as FCI for wheat or NAFED for pulses, at an official centre. In open mandis, traders can pay more or less. Gram procurement in Maharashtra usually happens through NAFED centres after registration, so register early when the window opens.

For kharif crops, see our list of kharif MSP 2026-27 for soybean, cotton and tur, and how to check today’s mandi rates online.

MSP is a floor price for government procurement; actual mandi prices can be higher or lower. Check your local procurement centre before selling.
