Maharashtra farmers can apply for drip and sprinkler irrigation subsidy online on the MahaDBT farmer portal (mahadbt.maharashtra.gov.in). Under the Centre’s Per Drop More Crop scheme, small and marginal farmers get 55% of the unit cost and other farmers 45%; Maharashtra adds a top-up under its own scheme, which takes the total to as much as 80% for small and marginal farmers and 75% for others, subject to the cost norms.

Applications are selected by lottery, so apply as soon as the window opens.

Farmer categoryCentral share (PMKSY)With state top-up
Small and marginal (up to 2 hectares)55%Up to 80%
Other farmers45%Up to 75%

The subsidy is calculated on the government’s unit cost for your crop spacing and area, not on the dealer’s quote. Check the latest government resolution on MahaDBT for the exact rates.

Documents

  • 7/12 and 8A extracts
  • Aadhaar card and Aadhaar-linked bank account
  • Caste certificate if applying under SC/ST categories
  • Proof of water source (well, borewell, farm pond or canal)
  • Quotation and bill from a registered drip company, after pre-sanction

How to apply

  1. Register on mahadbt.maharashtra.gov.in as a farmer, using Aadhaar.
  2. Choose Irrigation Equipment and Facilities, then Drip or Sprinkler irrigation.
  3. Enter crop, area and water source details, and pay the small application fee.
  4. If selected in the lottery, upload documents and wait for pre-sanction.
  5. Install the system through a registered company only after pre-sanction.
  6. Upload the bill; after field verification, the subsidy is credited to your bank account.
Common mistake: installing the drip system before getting pre-sanction. Many applications are rejected for this, and you lose the subsidy.

Drip saves water and can raise yields, which matters in a year when 305 talukas are drought-hit. Before applying, keep your 7/12 extract and Farmer ID ready.

Subsidy rates, unit costs and selection rules are set by the state’s government resolutions and can change. Confirm the current terms on MahaDBT or with your taluka agriculture office.
