Pune, 31st October 2026: Students of colleges affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will not write any exam today. The university has postponed every paper scheduled for Saturday, 31 October, across Pune, Ahilyanagar and Nashik districts. The circular came out on Friday evening, less than a day before the exams.
According to reports on the circular, the postponed papers will now be held on Thursday, 26 November 2026, at the same times printed on the original timetable. Students do not need a new hall ticket for the date change, but they should check with their college for any update.
Why the exams were moved
The reason is the President of India’s visit to Nashik and Trimbakeshwar for the flag-hoisting ceremony that marks the start of the 2026-27 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. The Nashik Municipal Commissioner wrote to the university on 28 October, warning that traffic in Nashik and nearby areas could be badly affected on the day.
SPPU said the decision was taken in view of the expected traffic disruptions. Since the university’s exams run on a common timetable across all three districts, the whole day’s papers were shifted, not just the Nashik centres. Dr Rajendra Talware, Director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation, confirmed the rescheduling to the media.
A note on the new date
One Pune outlet first reported the new date as 11 November. Most reports of the circular, including those carrying the university’s wording, say 26 November. Students should go by the circular on the SPPU website or their college notice board, and not by WhatsApp forwards.
What students should do now
If you had a paper today, you do not need to travel to your centre. Keep your hall ticket safe, because it will be needed on the new date. Many students in Pune’s hostels and PGs around Shivajinagar, Kothrud and Wakad had planned to go home for Diwali after their exams, so it is worth rechecking travel bookings for late November.
Colleges have been asked to inform their students, principals and staff about the change. If your college has not put up a notice yet, ask your exam section on Monday.
