Will it rain in Pune during Diwali?
The forecast does not show rain for any day up to 10 November. The light showers IMD had forecast in the last days of October have passed, and skies are expected to stay largely clear.
That is good news for outdoor lamps, rangoli and evening shopping on Laxmi Road and Tulshibaug.
Why days are hot and nights are cool
This is the usual November pattern on the Deccan plateau. Clear skies let the sun heat the ground strongly in the afternoon. At night, with no cloud cover to trap heat, the ground loses warmth fast.
The gap between day and night temperature this week is about 15 to 19 degrees. Expect warm afternoons that feel close to 35°C in the sun, and pleasant early mornings.
How cold will Diwali Pahat mornings be?
Early-morning concerts start around 6 am, which is close to the coolest hour. With minimums of 16°C to 18°C over the weekend, a light jacket or shawl is enough for open-air venues.
Outer areas such as Pashan, NDA Road, Lavale and the Sinhagad foothills are often a degree or two cooler than the city station at Shivajinagar. Our list of Diwali Pahat programmes in Pune has the venues and timings.
How this compares with a normal November
Pune’s long-term November average is a maximum of about 30.7°C and a minimum of about 15.1°C, based on IMD normals for 1991 to 2020. So days this week are running warmer than usual, while nights are close to normal.
Real winter cold usually arrives later, in December, when average minimums drop below 12°C.

Air quality: what to watch this week
Calm, clear nights also trap smoke near the ground. Firecracker smoke on Diwali nights can push air quality into the poor range in busy areas. Check readings on our Pune AQI today page before early-morning walks.
We will update this forecast if IMD revises it.
