Pune, 1st November 2026: The wait is over for most farmers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) on Friday, 30 October, at a national event in Bhildi in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district. More than Rs 18,680 crore was transferred to over 9.34 crore farmer families, at Rs 2,000 each.
Update: An earlier version of this article, written before the release was confirmed, said the date had not been announced. That is no longer the case, and the article has been rewritten.
The money went out a little over a week before Diwali, which is why “PM Kisan” was still among the top searches in Maharashtra this weekend. Many farmers who did not get an SMS are now trying to find out whether the payment reached them.
What was released and where
The release was part of a programme the government called PM Kisan Utsav Diwas, telecast live across the country. Gujarat alone held more than 2,100 cluster-level and 34 district-level events around it. According to the government’s figures, the first 23 instalments had already put more than Rs 4.47 lakh crore into the accounts of over 11 crore farmer families since the scheme began in 2019.
The scheme itself has not changed. Eligible landholding farmer families get Rs 6,000 a year in three instalments of Rs 2,000, paid straight into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. The previous payment, the 23rd instalment, came on 20 June 2026.
Did the Rs 2,000 reach you? How to check
Payments are sent in batches through the banking system, so some accounts show the credit a day or two later than others. If nothing has come by now, check the status yourself before visiting any office:
- Go to the official site, pmkisan.gov.in. Avoid look-alike sites and apps that ask for money.
- Under Farmers Corner, open Know Your Status.
- Enter your registration number. If you have forgotten it, use the Know your registration number link with your mobile or Aadhaar number.
- Enter the captcha and the OTP sent to your registered mobile.
- The screen shows each instalment, with the date it was credited or the reason it was held back.
You can also check your passbook, bank SMS or a UPI app linked to the same account. The credit usually shows as a PM-Kisan or DBT transfer.
Common reasons a payment gets stuck
The status page usually gives a reason. In Maharashtra, the ones that come up most often are:
- e-KYC not done. It is compulsory. You can finish it on the portal with an Aadhaar OTP, through the PM-Kisan mobile app using face authentication, or with biometrics at a Common Service Centre (CSC).
- Bank account not seeded with Aadhaar. The DBT goes only to an Aadhaar-linked account with NPCI mapping. Your bank branch or India Post Payments Bank can do this.
- Land records not verified. The 7/12 extract details must match. Farmers should check with the talathi or the taluka agriculture office.
- Name mismatch between Aadhaar, bank and land records, often a spelling difference in Marathi and English.
Completing e-KYC alone does not guarantee payment. All the other checks must also be cleared. Once a problem is fixed, pending amounts are usually paid along with a later batch, but the government has not given any fixed timeline for this.
Where to get help in Pune district
Farmers in Pune district can go to the taluka agriculture office, the gram sevak or krishi sahayak in their village, or the nearest CSC (Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendra). The PM-Kisan helpline numbers are 155261 and 011-24300606, and complaints can also be lodged through the Help Desk on the portal.
Eligible Maharashtra farmers also get a separate state top-up under the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi scheme. That money is paid by the state on its own schedule. The state government has not announced the date of its next instalment yet, and we will update this article when it does.
