How to check for the ColorOS 17 update
Go to Settings, tap About device, then ColorOS (or Software update) and check for the new version. Since updates arrive in phases, you may have to wait a few days after your phone’s month begins.
Before you install
Back up your photos, chats and contacts first. Make sure the battery is above 50 percent and use Wi-Fi, because major updates are large downloads. Do not restart the phone in the middle of the installation. If something feels off after updating, give the phone a day to finish background optimisation before judging battery life.
Realme, which also uses ColorOS as its base, has a separate rollout schedule for its phones.
