Pune, 6th November 2026: Residents around Hadapsar Industrial Estate, who have complained for years about the smell and scattered garbage from the waste facility, may finally get some relief. Two Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) solid waste projects in Hadapsar are moving into implementation, according to procurement records reported by Punekar News.

Project 1: Covering the industrial estate facility

The existing waste transfer and processing facility at Plot No. 100, Hadapsar Industrial Estate, handles about 200 tonnes of city waste a day from five divisions. The PMC Standing Committee approved enclosing it in an industrial shed and improving its ramp, after complaints about odour and waste spilling out.

Project 2: Mechanised transfer station at Hadapsar ramp

The second tender covers design, construction, equipment, commissioning and five years of operation and maintenance of a mechanised transfer station.

Project valueAbout ₹20.47 crore
Minimum capacity200 tonnes per day

No commissioning date has been announced.

Why a transfer station matters

In a mechanised transfer station, small collection vehicles tip waste into compactors inside a closed building. The compacted waste then goes in sealed containers to processing plants. Done well, this means fewer open heaps, less smell and fewer trucks on the road.

The cost figures come from secondary procurement records, so they may change. If garbage is still piling up on your street, here is how to complain to PMC. Read more Pune civic news.
