Pune, 29th October 2026: Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre, a Pune-based chain that offers mental health, addiction and dementia care, has raised ₹28 crore in a Series A round led by Delhi-based Alkemi Growth Capital. It’s the company’s first outside funding; until now it grew on its own earnings.

Psychiatrist Dr Amar Shinde founded the centre in Pune in 2008 with co-founder Vijaya Shinde, and he continues as its director. Hemant Shinde joined in 2019 and is the CEO.

The chain today runs more than 19 centres across nine cities, with over 1,600 beds and more than 40 doctors. Over the next three to four years, it wants to get to 40-plus centres and over 4,000 beds.

Plans for the money

The company says it will open centres in new cities, hire more clinical staff, add beds, build specialised care programmes and work more closely with insurers and corporates. Its expansion will focus on Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, where structured, clinically led rehabilitation can be hard to find.

A different kind of mental health bet

Families looking for long-term mental health or de-addiction care often struggle to find a place that is both properly run and affordable. Investors have mostly backed online therapy apps in recent years, so money going into a residential care chain is a bit unusual. For Pune, it’s another home-grown healthcare business growing well beyond the city.

The deal came in the same week that another Pune company, Clinics On Cloud, raised ₹120 crore for its microclinic business.
