Pune, 1st November 2026: Restaurants, sweet shops and caterers in Pune will pay a little more for gas this Diwali. Oil marketing companies have raised the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 10 to Rs 17 in the major cities from Sunday, 1 November. The 14.2 kg domestic cylinder used in homes has not changed.
New commercial LPG rates from 1 November
| City | 19 kg cylinder (new) | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi | Rs 2,820 | +Rs 10 |
| Mumbai | Rs 2,775 | +Rs 10.50 |
| Kolkata | Rs 2,971 | +Rs 17 |
| Chennai | Rs 2,994.50 | +Rs 11.50 |
Pune’s rate is set separately by the oil companies and usually stays close to Mumbai’s, differing by a few rupees because of local taxes and transport costs. Check the current rate with your distributor or on the Indian Oil, HPCL or BPCL websites before placing a bulk order.
Domestic LPG stays the same
There is no change for households. The 14.2 kg domestic cylinder costs Rs 941.50 in Mumbai and Rs 942 in Delhi, according to reports, unchanged since the Rs 29 increase on 7 June 2026. Pune households pay close to the Mumbai rate.
Why commercial gas got costlier
LPG prices in India are revised on the first of every month, based mainly on international propane and butane prices. Saudi Aramco’s contract prices, the benchmark for Indian imports, went up for November, and the oil companies passed on the increase to commercial users. Domestic prices are decided separately and change far less often.
What it means in Pune
A Rs 10.50 rise on a cylinder that already costs over Rs 2,700 is small on its own, about 0.4%. But Diwali is when Pune’s mithai shops, farsan makers and caterers burn through the most gas. A sweet shop in Sadashiv Peth or a caterer in Kothrud using 20 commercial cylinders a week during the festival season will pay around Rs 200 more each week at the new rate. Most will absorb it, but it adds to the pressure from higher sugar and dry fruit costs this season.

A word of caution for households
Using a domestic cylinder for commercial cooking, such as a home-run tiffin service selling to customers, is not allowed. Distributors can and do act against misuse. If you run a small food business from home, ask your distributor about a commercial connection.
