Hinjewadi Metro Line 3 in brief
Line 3 links the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi with Shivajinagar over a 23.2 km elevated corridor. It has 23 stations, of which 17 will open at the start. Two more stations are expected by the end of November, and the rest will open in phases by January 2027, according to Pune Metro.
Two firsts stand out. All the train operators on the line are women, which Pune Metro describes as a first in the country, and almost a third of the line’s electricity is planned to come from solar power.

Phase-II: the four new lines
The foundation stone covers four corridors that will take Metro to Kharadi, Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Swargate, Nanded City, Warje and beyond.
- Line 2A: Vanaz to Chandani Chowk, extending the existing Purple Line westwards.
- Line 2B: Ramwadi towards Wagholi, extending the line east along Nagar Road.
- Line 4: Kharadi to Khadakwasla via Hadapsar and Swargate.
- Line 4A: Nal Stop to Manik Baug via Warje.
Lines 4 and 4A together cover 31.64 km with 28 elevated stations and were approved by the Union Cabinet in November 2025 at a cost of ₹9,857.85 crore, with a five-year completion target. Interchanges are planned at Kharadi Bypass, Nal Stop, Swargate and Hadapsar Railway Station. Maha Metro will build all four lines.
What it means for daily commuters
For the lakhs of IT employees who drive or take buses between Hinjewadi and the city, Line 3 is the big change, and the Wakad-Hinjewadi stretch should see some relief from Wednesday. The Phase-II lines are a longer wait: construction will take several years, and stretches along Sinhagad Road, Solapur Road and Nagar Road could see barricading once work starts.
