Pune, 2nd November 2026: Bomb threats emailed to the Shivajinagar district and sessions court, a Pune Metro station and the Pune Mayor’s office on Monday afternoon turned out to be a hoax, police said after the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) found nothing suspicious at any of the three places.
The email threatening to blow up the court and the Metro station reached the court’s official email address on Monday afternoon. A separate threat landed in the official inbox of the Mayor’s office. The court building was evacuated, police were posted around the Metro station, and BDDS teams checked all three locations before issuing a safety clearance, Punekar News reported. Police have not named the Metro station.
Courts in Thane, Beed and Hingoli got similar emails
Pune was not the only target. Court complexes in Thane, Beed and Hingoli received threat emails the same day, according to Deccan Chronicle.
| Court | What the email said | Police response |
|---|---|---|
| Shivajinagar, Pune | Bomb placed in the court building | Court evacuated, BDDS search, declared hoax |
| Thane city court | Bomb would explode at 3:30 pm | Complex evacuated by Thane Nagar police, dog squad and BDDS search, nothing found |
| Beed | Email at 11:52 am warning of a blast at 3:11 pm | Police, BDDS, LCB and dog squad searched, nothing found |
| Hingoli | Threat to blow up the court building | BDDS search, nothing found; cyber police tracing the sender |
In Beed, cyber teams were checking where the email was sent from, and the Hingoli cybercrime unit has started a probe to trace its source. Police have not said whether the emails came from the same sender or whether an FIR has been registered in Pune.
Not the first hoax at the Mayor’s office
The Pune Mayor’s office has received such an email before. In June 2026, a threat sent to its official address was also declared a hoax after a BDDS check that lasted more than two hours. Hoax bomb emails to courts, schools, airports and offices have become frequent across India, and police treat each one seriously until the premises are cleared.
