When will Pune’s winter start?
Not yet. With nights at 23 to 24°C all week, the usual early-November chill is missing. In most years, Pune’s minimum starts to drop steadily once skies clear and dry northerly winds set in, typically from the second or third week of November. IMD has not issued a specific date for the onset of winter in Pune this year, and we will update this page when it does.
A strong El Nino is active in the Pacific this year, which can mean fewer very cold spells. Read our explainer on El Nino, La Nina and Pune’s winter.
What the week means for you
Clear afternoons at 31 to 32°C will feel warm for Diwali shopping on Laxmi Road, Tulshibaug and in the Camp area, so carry water if you are out between noon and 4 pm. Calm, dry days also let dust and firecracker smoke hang low over the city in the evenings, which is a concern for people with asthma and for the elderly.
