The annual window for pensioners to submit their life certificate, or Jeevan Pramaan, opens on 1 November 2026 and runs till 30 November. Pensioners aged 80 and above have been able to submit since 1 October.
The certificate tells your pension-disbursing bank or agency that you are alive, so your monthly pension keeps coming. In Pune, which has a large population of retired central and state government employees, defence pensioners and bank retirees, branch queues tend to build up in the last week of November. Submitting early saves a trip.
Four ways to submit your life certificate
- Face authentication on a phone: Generate a Digital Life Certificate (DLC) from home using an Android smartphone with internet access.
- Biometric devices: Use a fingerprint or iris scanner at an authorised centre.
- Doorstep banking: Ask your bank to send someone home under its doorstep service.
- At the branch: Visit your pension-paying bank branch and submit in person.
Digital submission is optional. You can still go to the branch if you prefer.
How to submit by face authentication
- Install the Jeevan Pramaan Face app and the AadhaarFaceRD app from the Google Play Store.
- Open the Jeevan Pramaan app and enter your Aadhaar number (or Virtual ID), mobile number and email if asked.
- Verify the OTP sent to your mobile.
- Fill in your pension details: Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, pension account number, and the names of your sanctioning and disbursing authorities.
- Allow the camera and complete the face scan in good light, looking straight at the phone.
- Note the Pramaan ID shown after a successful scan.
A family member’s phone can be used, as long as the face scanned is the pensioner’s.
Documents and details to keep ready
Keep your Aadhaar number or VID, PPO number, pension bank account details and an active mobile number handy. Having your pension order on hand makes the form quicker to fill.
Check that it was accepted
A successful face scan does not automatically mean your pension office has accepted the certificate. Check the status on jeevanpramaan.gov.in using the Pramaan ID. If it shows rejected or remains unclear for several days, contact your bank or pension-disbursing authority.
Ask your bank about any charges before you book a doorstep visit.
The life certificate deadline is one of several changes that kick in this month. Our list of rules changing from November 1, 2026 covers the rest, and bank holidays in November 2026 can help you plan a branch visit.
