If you live in Pune or are planning to visit, you’ve probably heard a lot about the Pune Metro lately. It’s fast, it’s clean, and finally – it’s becoming the lifeline we’ve all been waiting for. I recently took a few rides myself, and trust me, having the metro as an option is a game-changer. But before you hop on, let me walk you through everything – timings, routes, stations, and even tips from my own experience.
Table of Contents
🚇 Pune Metro Timings (Updated July 2025)
- Monday to Saturday: 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Frequency: Every 10–15 minutes (rush hours are tighter, yay!)
⏰ First and last train details:
- PCMC Station First Train: 6:00 AM
- Civil Court Last Train: 10:30 PM
From personal experience, if you’re planning a morning commute, 6:45 AM to 9 AM is the sweet spot – it’s quick, less crowded, and very punctual.
🗺️ Metro Routes in Pune (Green Line & Purple Line)
1. Purple Line (PCMC to Civil Court) – Operational
- Stations: PCMC, Sant Tukaram Nagar, Bhosari, Kasarwadi, Phugewadi, Dapodi, Bopodi, Khadki, Range Hills, Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court
This is the route I take often – especially the stretch between Shivaji Nagar and Bopodi. Scenic and super clean.
2. Aqua Line (Vanaz to Ruby Hall Clinic) – Operational
- Stations: Vanaz, Anand Nagar, Ideal Colony, Nal Stop, Garware College, Deccan Gymkhana, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan, PMC Bhavan, Civil Court, Mangalwar Peth, Pune Railway Station, Ruby Hall Clinic
The convenience of getting to the Railway Station via metro is something Pune desperately needed – finally here.
3. Upcoming Routes
- Expansion work is ongoing toward Katraj and Hinjewadi – so hang tight!
💸 Pune Metro Ticket Prices
- Minimum fare: ₹10
- Maximum fare: ₹25 (based on distance)
- You can also get a Metro Card for convenience – works like a charm, especially if you ride daily.
I personally recommend getting the card if you’re using the metro more than twice a week – it saves both time and money.
📱How to Check Live Metro Timings & Status
- Download the Pune Metro app (available on Android & iOS)
- Or visit the official Maha Metro website
The app shows live train locations, station info, and has QR-based ticketing – super handy when you’re in a hurry.
🧭 Tips from a Regular Metro User (me!)
- Avoid peak college hours: 8:30 AM to 10 AM from Deccan Gymkhana onwards can get crowded.
- Carry a water bottle: The AC is amazing, but it gets dry in there.
- Keep ₹10–₹20 in change in case QR machines are down.
- Try catching the metro from terminal stations if you want a seat during rush hours.
📍 Why Pune Metro Matters (and Feels Personal)
The first time I took the Pune Metro, I was honestly impressed – not just with the trains, but with how it made the city feel more connected. As someone who has lived in Pune for years, this isn’t just another mode of transport. It’s the beginning of a better, smarter way of moving through our city. And being stuck less in traffic? Absolute blessing.
