If you’re a Punekar who loves history or just someone curious about our rich Maratha legacy, Shivsrushti in Ambegaon is a place that you simply shouldn’t miss. It’s not just a theme park—it’s an emotional, immersive experience that takes you back in time to witness the extraordinary life and vision of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The Dream Behind Shivsrushti
This ambitious project was the brainchild of the late Babasaheb Purandare, the legendary historian and playwright who dedicated his life to bringing Shivaji Maharaj’s story to the people. Shivsrushti isn’t just built—it’s crafted with pride, emotion, and a deep sense of purpose. The vision is clear: to create Asia’s largest historical theme park, where visitors don’t just learn history—they feel it.
And yes, it’s still a work in progress. But Phase 1 is open to the public, and trust me, even this first phase will leave you stunned.
What’s Open Now: Phase 1 – Sarkarwada
Currently, visitors can explore the stunning Sarkarwada, which is inspired by the regal architecture of the 17th century. As soon as you step in, you’re greeted with majestic wooden pillars, stone carvings, and a vibe that gives goosebumps to any history lover.
🔹 Fort Replicas
You’ll find detailed miniature models of iconic forts like Raigad, Sinhagad, and Pratapgad. It’s not just about scale—it’s about storytelling. You’ll understand the strategic genius of Shivaji Maharaj just by looking at how these forts were positioned and structured.
🔹 The Coronation Hologram
This one gave me chills. A state-of-the-art holographic projection brings Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation to life. You actually feel like you’re right there at Raigad Fort, watching history unfold.
🔹 Immersive Theatre & Light Show
The sound-and-light show here isn’t your typical touristy thing. It’s moving. It takes you through defining moments of Shivaji Maharaj’s life and the rise of Swarajya.
🔹 Governance & Vision
This is one of my favorite parts—an entire section dedicated to Shivaji’s administrative brilliance. It covers everything from currency systems to the Ashta Pradhan Mandal (his council of ministers). It’s a reminder that Shivaji Maharaj was not just a warrior but a visionary ruler.
