PUNE: The grounds of Army Public School (APS), Dighi, were awash with patriotic fervor and a tricolor ocean of excitement as students, staff, and honored guests gathered to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day. The event began with a disciplined NCC march-past, followed by a moving flag hoisting ceremony and a series of spirited cultural performances by the students.

A Ceremonial Beginning
The ceremony commenced with a stirring march-past by the NCC Band, projecting discipline and pride. The Chief Guest, Col Yatin Arora, Commanding Officer of Training Battalion-2 at BEG & Centre and distinguished alumnus of IMA Dehradun, was welcomed warmly by Principal Kavita Kadam and Vice Principal Dnyaneshwar Shinde. Col Arora then unfurled the National Flag, followed by the reverent singing of the National Anthem—setting a deeply patriotic tone for the day.
A Showcase of Young Patriotism
Students brought the spirit of a “New India” to life with heartfelt performances. Primary students rendered a soulful patriotic song, while the Balvatika-3 (tiny-tots) group enthralled the audience with vibrant dance showcasing Indian traditions. The program also included a poignant poem, an inspiring Hindi speech honoring freedom fighters, a rousing rendition of “Bharat Vande Mataram”, and a colorful dance sequence celebrating national heritage.
Inspiring Words for Future Leaders
Delivering messages rich in purpose, the school leaders and Chief Guest reminded students of their civic responsibilities. Principal Kavita Kadam’s remarks emphasized nurturing students to become responsible, compassionate, and dedicated leaders of tomorrow. In his address, Col Arora urged students to value freedom, uphold integrity, and actively contribute to building a stronger “New India.”

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the leadership, teachers, students, and all involved in making the event memorable.
